Wout Weghorst 2022-23 Statistics and how he will fit into Erik ten Hag pattern finally revealed

Manchester United is in dire need of a striker if they must go ahead to compete for a trophy this season. So far in the winter transfer window, Erik ten Hag is reportedly close to signing Burnley and Netherlands striker Wout Weghorst on loan until the end of the season.

However, how do his statistics compare to those of United’s current strikers?

Weghorst, who scored twice against Argentina in last month’s World Cup, is currently on loan at Turkish club Besiktas for the season, but United manager Erik Ten Hag has expressed interest in signing him.

Due to the Glazer family’s willingness to sell the club in the upcoming months, United have been exploring a variety of loan options this month, as their January finances are limited.

However, they have struggled to find a suitable target, as their preferred options are only available through permanent transfers.

Weghorst joined Burnley from Wolfsburg for £12 million in January last year and immediately made an impression in a 1-1 draw against United, setting up Jay Rodriguez for the equalizer.

But as the season progressed, he struggled to make a greater impact, scoring just twice as Burnley was relegated from the Premier League.

Prior to his move to Turf Moor, Weghorst played 144 games for Wolfsburg and scored 77 goals, an impressive goal-scoring ratio of nearly one every two games.

The possibility of playing at Old Trafford could convince the 30-year-old to give English football a second chance.

We have compared Weghorst’s 2022-23 league statistics with Besiktas to Rashford’s and Martial’s first-half Premier League numbers.
