Uzoho finally reveals his motivation after Man of the Match display against Man Utd
Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho has revealed the reason why he was selected to start for Omonia Nicosia against Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Omonia Nicosia no.2 goalkeeper, was selected because of Fabinao absence due to a shoulder injury.
Fabinao was impressive last week in Cyprus, making several saves including a strong one to deny Antony from long-range.
United had 28 shots in total last week – though only eight were on target – and controlled 73% of the possession.

Despite losing to the Red Devils, Uzoho proved he is worthy to be retained as the first-choice goalkeeper for his side; making 11 saves and clinching the Man of the Match award.
“It’s a dream come true for me,” Omonia goalkeeper and die-hard Man United fan Francis Uzoho told BT Sport after an excellent performance at Old Trafford.
“I have dreamed about playing here for a very long time. When I saw the draw, I prayed to God to get the opportunity to play here.
“I am happy I played here. Arguably it’s the best performance of my career,” he added.
Uzoho was given the Man of the Match award by BT Sport after saving 12 shots on target.
It was only in the 93rd minute when Scott McTominay finally managed to score and win the game for Man United, despite all of Uzoho’s efforts.
Erik ten Hag men’s 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad was disappointing, but wins over the bottom two – Sheriff Tiraspol and Omonia Nicosia – means they are just three points behind the group leaders.
United and Real Sociedad face each other on 3 November which is likely to be a crucial game. Until then, United needs to keep winning.
