Batshuayi slammed for the Blues poor performance

The Belgian has now been handed two rare appearances for Chelsea in pre-season, with him failing to make an impression in either outing.

With the striker enduring five consecutive spells away from the club leading up to this summer, it is likely his future still does not have him at Stamford Bridge.

This is despite the club spending £33m on him in 2016, with him scoring some important goals for Antonio Conte’s Chelsea on the road to Premier League glory.

Batshuayi slammed for Chelsea performance

The Mirror were particularly scathing of his performance last night, with them claiming he looked like he was “on a different planet.”

Football London however claimed his appearance wasn’t as bad, pointing out that he had a hand in Thomas Tuchel’s sides only goal of the evening, scored by Christian Pulisic. They did only give him a 5/10 rating though.

With Armando Broja reportedly set to leave the club this summer, the opportunity is there for someone to come through from nowhere and compete with Kai Havertz for the striker role.

However, a pair of performances where the Belgium international has failed to make an impact may have already seen that opportunity pass him by.

With Robert Lewandowski confirming his move to Barcelona, it seems unlikely the Blues are to add another striker to their ranks this summer, as they prioritise other areas to strengthen.

With that being said, it could provide an opportunity for Timo Werner to endure a breakthrough season at Stamford Bridge. With Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic competing for roles on the left wing, Tuchel may consider the German down the middle again, in an attempt to finally get him firing.
